A retired music
professor from the College
of
Charleston
, Bill ‘s love of watercolors began during his high school years. However, it is within the last twenty years that he has
concentrated on painting regularly and exhibiting his work. Being largely self-taught artist, his favorite
subjects are
landscapes, trees, plants, and flowers.
“I have always delighted in the
transparency of watercolors, their
vibrancy, their free flow, and the intermixing of colors on the paper
never fail to excite me. Although
technical mastery of this medium is extremely difficult, it is that
challenge that keeps me painting. There is always something new to learn to achieve the effect
one desires.”
Bill has been the recipient of
numerous awards in state and local art shows, including Third Place
in the South Carolina Watercolor Society judged by
Jeanne Dobie AWS.
He and his wife Ann live on James
Island. They have two
grown children, Christopher and Elizabeth.
