Margaret
Hall Hoybach is a native of Washington, DC. She received her BA from
the University of Maryland School of Fine Arts in 1966 and took
advanced studies at the University of California at Davis, CA.
Extensive painting trips to Europe, the Orient, and throughout the
United States have given her a rich inspiration for her watercolors.
Hoybach’s work centers on close-ups of nature and combines integral
detail with impressionistic interpretation. During thirty years of
worldwide travel, Margaret has developed sketching techniques the
enable her to capture the essential magnetism of the subject on site
and then turn these sketches into finished paintings. Viewers take
pleasure in her vibrant colors that highlight her floral and
Lowcountry paintings.
Hoybach is a lecturer
at universities, colleges, museums, and to professional organizations.
She conducts watercolor workshops in the United States and abroad and
has juried and judged numerous shows in the southeastern United
States. She has an educational television series on painting, 'The
Artistry of Margaret Hall Hoybach', which is produced and shown in the
Washington, DC area. Her latest book, "Colors of France: A
Painting Pilgrimage," was published and released in the summer of
2002. For the past several years she has concentrated
on painting and conducting workshops in Southern France and show of her French works opened in
Provence, France in July,1999. Margaret and her husband live
near Charleston, SC.
